JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:          NETWORK ENGINEER

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Information Technology
  • Essential knowledge in Active Directory and Windows Servers
  • Essential knowledge in the proper installation and support of network components, electrical components, and other components
  • Skilled in the programming, installation, maintenance, and operation of network devices, servers, personal computers, network operating systems, and software applications
  • Certification in technology repair (A+ certification desired) and/or equivalent job experience required
  • At least one years’ experience in the field of Information Technology

 

 

REPORTS TO:     Director of Technology and Information Systems

 

SUPERVISES:     If applicable, as designated by Board, Superintendent, or School Administrator

 

FUNCTION:          To respond and be the first level of support for all technology hardware,                                                                                 software, server and network related problems.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONBSIBILTIES:

  • Knowledge of SQL (preferred)
  • Knowledge of basic computer programming (preferred)
  • Knowledge of PowerSchool (preferred)
  • Knowledge of EdFi (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Windows xx (Enterprise preferred)
  • Knowledge of server operating systems (Microsoft Server)
  • Maintaining computer networks including mainframes, VPNs, routers and other physical hardware
  • Implement data security systems such as firewalls, virus protection software and data backups
  • Basic knowledge of educational and business software applications in order to support staff and students:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Common Internet Browsers
  • E-Mail software (MS Outlook and Office 365)
  • Common multimedia software applications and tools
  • Performs troubleshooting (which may include Internet research and vendor contact) to correct computer hardware and software malfunctions
  • Basic knowledge of Cisco switching
  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts, devices and security
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work with people
  • Ability to work independently in solving problems
  • Transportation is required to perform job functions
