JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:         COMPUTER TECHNICIAN / NETWORK ENGINEER

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Information Technology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Servers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SQL/Oracle databases.
  • Programming experience (html, JavaScript, vbscript).
  • Certification in technology repair (A+ certification desired) and/or equivalent job experience required.
  • Three – five years’ experience in the field of Information Technology.

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Technology and Information Systems

 

SUPERVISES: If applicable, as designated by Board, Superintendent, or School Administrator

 

FUNCTION: To respond and be the first level of support for all technology hardware, software, server and network related problems.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONBSIBILTIES:

  • Performs required maintenance on all computer systems
  • Performs troubleshooting to correct hardware and software issues
  • Maintains the integrity of the inventory system by checking all equipment in and out of the system
  • Supports Interactive whiteboards in the classroom (Promethean desired)
  • Supports network cabling, fiber, and switches
  • Completes all request for assistance via the District ticketing system
  • Assists with district telecommunications systems
  • Assists with two way video systems
  • Ability to ask questions and listen to end users in order to understand the issue and reply with an explanation in a clear and understandable way
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to install, configure, and upgrade computer hardware, peripherals and software
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation
  • Ability to support wireless infrastructure (Meraki desired)
  • Ability to work independently in solving problems
  • Ability to work with people
  • Knowledge of Active Directory
  • Knowledge of basic computer hardware and peripherals
  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts, devices and security
  • Knowledge of Cisco switching
  • Knowledge of common Internet Browsers
  • Knowledge of common multimedia software applications and tools
  • Knowledge of common open-source software applications
  • Knowledge of E-Mail software (MS Outlook and Office 365)
  • Knowledge of educational and business software applications in order to support staff and students
  • Knowledge of firewalls
  • Knowledge of Internet filtering software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of SCCM
  • Knowledge of server operating systems (Microsoft Server 2008/2012)
  • Knowledge of Windows xx (Enterprise preferred)
  • Knowledge of WSUS
  • Transportation is required to perform job functions
